If you're wondering whether the mat is tough enough to be folded/rolled on it's own inside the Rucki-it is.
Just make sure you roll the nozzle inside the rolled mat for it's protection.
You could even fold it and use it as a sort of back panel cushion in a frameless Rucki.
Having made quite a few frameless ones now for males and females, as long as it doesn't bounce on your hip tops or top of your arse (cheeks region) as you walk seems to be the key to a comfortable ride WonderB.
This is something that a lot of people (as do I) seem to agree on.
So yes, an an overly long Rucki- can certainly be a problem.
If it's made to your back length, as FatRatty said, the shoulder strap adjustment should allow fine tuning and optimum comfort.
I'd say go with what the manufacturer of the rucki suggests once you tell them your back length.

Jay Jay I know you said DCF however, with budgets being what they are ... if you are considering Ultragrid from EX TEX make sure to ask them to either leave the selvedge on-so you can see the PU layer and ensure it's on the inside or even better- get them to label it for you.
I just received some in Avocado colo ur minus the selvedge and it's incredibly difficult to discern the PU coated side.

Das Argument mit den sich vielleicht dehnenden Nähten finde ich deshalb durchaus bedenkenswert.
Nun ja, das bezieht allerdings auf Ziehen mit ganzer Kraft. Bloß einen Rucksack vollzustopfen ist noch was anderes 😄
So ganz abweichend find ich meine Meinung aber nicht? Dan Durston z.B. meinte doch auch, gut für Rolltops und Packsäcke, aber vielleicht nicht Rucksack-Hauptmaterial.
Allerdings: Mein Gefühl sagt, Dan spricht ebenso wie ich eher von größeren Rucksäcken, wo z.B. die Nähte der Hüftgurte auch eine große Last abkönnen müssen. Der kleine Nero Classic ist da vielleicht nicht so fordernd.
(Auch wenn dieses genauere Einordnen dir vermutlich auch nicht viel hilft. 😄)
I think you're spot on around the notion of the Ruckie being smaller and potentially lower stresses(although I have seen some people really jamming their stuff into a small Ruckie😀).
